i'm back, bb

(or i am still alive at least)

hullo,

It has certainly been a minute.

My last update for the little feelings poetry project went out on June 22nd and a few weeks later I had a very unexpected big, no good, very bad day type thing happen to me and my family.

I’ll post more about it in a few weeks (probably over here first), but for now I’ll share that somebody very close to me passed away suddenly and I became the primary person to wrangle their post-mortem affairs.

I’m not gonna lie it’s been a pretty rough few months for me.

To make things even crazier, I also had something very good happen to me last month in the midst of all the bad.

And, of course, all that is good in the world comes with a chaos of it’s own design.

So I am daily deep in the emotional whipsaw of joy and despair, but hey…

at least I’ll get some poems out of it.

Here are the latest updates for little feelings

First, the words.

I added 11 new poems to the project and also added a new collection.

I use collections to organize the types of things I’m writing about and over time I suspect they’ll turn into something resembling chapters of my life. They not-so-subtly hint at my big life changes and activities so enterprising readers may figure out my news if they do a little investigating.

Some of these new poems are from my current challenges and a few are from my archived notes. I find it interesting to compare old writing to new and try to figure out how I’ve changed (if at all).

I also added a new entry to the Spotlight Page. I previously wrote a poem about a real-life-actually-happened chance encounter with a coyote and this explains a bit more of how that all went down.

Onto the nuts and bolts

Update Changelog:

• Updated the collections page to display a dropdown menu of live collections on mobile because it was effectively unusable in certain circumstances. Here’s what it looks like now!

  Pretty clean, no?

• I also overhauled the Spotlight page to handle *gasp* more than one entry. I got the original page up very quickly and it needed some modifications in order to handle multiple entries. Now I can quickly add more to my heart’s content and visitors can easily scroll through the previous entries too.

It’s not much, but it’s honest work. I think this is everything, but to be honest it’s been so long and my github notes are so terrible that I may have missed something. Feel free to comment below if you notice a site change I forgot to mention!

Additionally, there are unfortunately no updates yet on the physical item I mentioned in my last update because of all the aforementioned doom and turmoil. Such is life.
